Rule D Road is built to be played, not to collect your life story. This page explains the little we do collect, why, how it changes depending on your age, and what your choices are.
Not live yet. Sections 6 (age bands) and 7 (mailing list) describe features that are still in development. They take effect with the game release that introduces them. Until then the game collects only what is listed in section 4, and no mailing list exists.
Rule D Road is developed and published by Coded Arts Ltd (“we”, “us”). If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us using the details in section 12.
The whole game is playable offline with nothing sent to anyone. Leaderboards and multiplayer need a connection, but they use only the anonymous identifier described below. There is no point in the game where you must give a personal detail to keep playing.
| Data | Anonymous device identifier. When you first play, the game creates a random identifier tied to your device through Epic Online Services (“Device ID” sign-in). It contains no name, email, phone number, or account details, and we cannot use it to identify you personally. |
|---|---|
| Why | It is what lets your scores belong to you on the leaderboards without you creating an account. |
| Data | Display name. The nickname shown next to your scores. Players 13 and over type their own; players under 13 pick from a list we generate, so no personal detail can end up on a public board. |
| Why | It is shown next to your scores on the public leaderboards. |
| Data | Gameplay scores. Your best final band size and peak band size for each round you submit. |
| Why | They are the leaderboards. Leaderboards are public: any player can see your display name, rank, and score. |
| Data | Birth month and year. Asked once, the first time you play. |
| Why | To know which of the age bands in section 6 applies to you. It stays on your device. It is not sent to us, to Epic, or to anyone else, and it is deleted with the game. |
| Data | Local save data. Settings and progress stored on your own device. |
| Why | So the game remembers your options between sessions. This never leaves your device. |
| Data | Email address — optional, 16+ only, only if you ask for it. See section 7. |
| Why | To send you news about the game, and nothing else. |
Online features (sign-in, leaderboards and multiplayer) are provided by Epic Online Services, operated by Epic Games, Inc. When you use these features, the identifier, display name and scores described above are processed and stored on Epic’s servers under their terms. Epic’s own privacy policy applies to their processing: epicgames.com/site/en-US/privacypolicy.
Your birth date and your email address are never sent to Epic.
Playing offline works without any of this. If the game cannot reach the leaderboard service, your scores stay on your device and get submitted later, or never, if you never go online.
The first time you play, the game asks for your birth month and year. That answer decides what the game will and will not ask you for afterwards. The answer stays on your device.
| Under 13 | Display name is picked from a list, never typed. You are never asked for an email address or any other personal detail. Links that would leave the game to a website or social media are placed behind a parental check. |
|---|---|
| 13 to 15 | You can type your own display name. You are not asked for an email address, because in some countries a parent has to agree to that below the age of 16. |
| 16 and over | You can type your own display name, and you are offered the optional mailing list described in section 7. |
If you are 16 or over, the game offers — once — to add your email address to our mailing list. All of the following are true:
Addresses are handled by a mailing provider on our behalf, and are stored for as long as you stay subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we delete the address.
We take children’s privacy seriously, and we have designed the game so that a child can play all of it without giving us a single personal detail.
Parents: if you believe your child has given us personal information, or you want their leaderboard entry removed, email us using the details in section 12 and we will delete it. You do not need an account or any proof of purchase — tell us the display name and we will act on it.
We share data only with Epic Online Services (section 5) and, if you have joined the mailing list, our mailing provider (section 7) — in each case only the data listed there, and only so they can provide that service to us. We do not sell, rent, or trade any player data. We would disclose data if a law required it, though with no account system there is very little to disclose.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe, the UK GDPR, or similar laws elsewhere), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the use of data about you, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Because we hold almost nothing, exercising these rights usually amounts to the leaderboard deletion or the unsubscribe described above. Whatever the request, contact us and we will help.

If the game gains features that change what is collected, this policy will be updated before those features ship, and the effective date above will change. Where a change means collecting something new from you, we will ask you at the time rather than relying on this page having been updated.
